CHHS Participates in Transportation Review Board Webinar

On August  14th, 2018, the UMB Center for Health and Homeland Security, in partnership with the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s Transportation Research Board, presented a live webinar on Emergency Preparedness Against Infectious Diseases on Public Transit. CHHS Public Health Program Director Trudy Henson and Senior Law & Policy Analyst Michael Tennison presented; Associate Director Megan Timmins moderated the webinar, which focused on transit agencies’ legal and policy preparedness for infectious disease outbreak preparedness.

The webinar had over 340 sites log in for the live delivery, with an estimated 454 people in attendance; the webinar received a 92% satisfaction rating from responding participants.

The webinar built on the information presented in a transit cooperative research report that CHHS authored with TRB in 2017 entitled Public Transit Emergency Preparedness Against Ebola and Other Infectious Diseases: Legal Issues. The webinar included key legal and policy updates.
