Senior Crisis Management Seminars – Winter 2015
Senior Policy Analyst Russell J. Strickland kicked off CHHS’ 2015 work with the U.S. Department of State Office of Anti-Terrorism Assistance during a March trip to Mexico City. The seminar included more than 15 students that represented a cross-section of the City’s response community, and was conducted in a workshop style that engaged the students in daily activities and exercises, encouraging their collegial interaction. From the assessment conducted prior to the delivery, to input from the opening exercises, students learned how to better enhance planning and operational coordination – two core capabilities that are essential to all mission areas of emergency management. The week’s topics progressed from the planning and mitigation for all hazards to response and recovery, concluding with a capstone exercise reviewing each of the week’s lessons.
Additional seminars planned for 2015 include Kazakhstan in June.
