Erin Podolny joined CHHS in August 2009 as a Law and Policy Analyst. Ms. Podolny is currently working with the Eastern Shore Communications Alliance (ESCA) to improve their emergency interoperable communications capabilities through FEMA’s Interoperable Emergency Communications Grant Program. Specifically, Ms. Podolny is the Eastern Shore Interoperability Coordinator and serves as the Executive Director of ESCA. In this capacity, Ms. Podolny has organized a formal governance structure and governance document for ESCA, has assisted ESCA in applying for future funds, and is currently developing a training and exercise program for all nine counties of Maryland’s Eastern Shore that make up ESCA. Ms. Podolny has also been heavily involved in CHHS’s response to several Requests for Proposals, where she has coordinated CHHS’s participation as both a prime contractor and a subcontractor.
While a student at the University of Maryland School of Law, Ms. Podolny completed an externship with CHHS, where she assisted CHHS Director Michael Greenberger in his role as a Subject Matter Expert for the development of the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials’ guidance aimed at preparing at-risk populations for pandemic influenza. Also as an extern, Ms. Podolny researched, wrote, and presented a talk on the importance of and issues associated with Continuity of Operations Planning for non-profit organizations.
