Czarina Biton, MPH

Biography

Czarina Biton joined CHHS in 2011 as a Liaison to Washington, D.C.'s Senior Policy Group of the National Capital Region. In this role, she supports the director and deputy director of the District of Columbia's Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency by making policy recommendations regarding federal homeland security funding. Prior to working at CHHS, Ms. Biton lived in Massachusetts and worked with public health departments at the local and regional level on emergency preparedness and pandemic influenza planning, with a specific focus on developing organizational infrastructure to address the needs of at-risk populations, leveraging community partnerships to promote preparedness and communications strategies. Ms. Biton also served as a Public Information Officer for a coalition of public health departments and was dedicated to creating opportunities to promote the importance of public health in the media. Ms. Biton has more than seven years of experience in the field of public health, specializing in health promotion, coalition building, policy advocacy, as well managing public health campaigns. Ms. Biton received her undergraduate degree in English and Classics from the University of California, Santa Barbara and her Master of Public Health degree from Boston University, where she concentrated on Social and Behavioral Sciences. A California native, Ms. Biton currently resides in Washington, D.C.
