CHHS Public Health Program Manager Earl Stoddard spoke to the Maryland Gazette about the recent conference hosted by the Middle Atlantic Regional Center of Excellence for Biodefence and Emerging Infectious Diseases and CHHS on Laboratory Safety, Security and Preparedness in the Evolving Era of Dual Use Research of Concern (DURC). Stoddard touched on the difficulty in getting information from labs participating in potentially dangerous research. He encouraged a balance between important research taking place and public health and safety.
