Exercise Project Manager

Job Summary: 

The Exercise Project Manager will manage and be an active member of a team that directs, develops and coordinates State, Federal, and local emergency management and homeland security exercises on behalf of the Center for Health and Homeland Security. Activities include, but are not limited to, 1) project management; 2) personnel management; 3) development of operations based and discussion based exercise planning documents; 4) delivery of operations based and discussion based exercises; 5) development of comprehensive After Action Reports; 6) development of comprehensive improvement plans; 7) consulting clients on how best to integrate exercises into their overall strategic planning and capabilities based planning approach. 

 

Primary duties:

  • Direct and lead team members on a variety of exercise related projects.
  • Manage project timelines and deliverables.
  • Develop, deliver, and evaluate State, local, and Federal discussion and operations based exercises. 
  • Evaluate traditional and non-traditional first responders in their roles and responsibilities associated with mitigating, responding, preparing, and recovering from emergencies.
  • Develop After Action Reports based on exercises delivered or real-world events.
  • Develop Improvement Plans based on exercises delivered and real-world events.
  • Track Corrective Actions associated with exercises or real-world events.
  • Lead group discussions and meetings.
  • Consult clients on how best to integrate exercises and evaluations into strategic planning and capabilities based planning initiatives.
  • Market CHHS capabilities and develop new business with existing and potential clients.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.  An advanced degree is required. Additional certification in a related field is preferred and can be used to substitute for relevant experience.
  • 3 years experience in a related field.
  • Project management experience .
  • Exercise development, delivery and evaluation experience.
